India at 76 in the Global Social Mobility Index

India Ranks 76th global social Mobility Index.

The report published by World Economic Forum ( WEF) States that India has ranked 76th place in the Global social mobility index. The report is  shocking because India has bagged the 76th place among the count of 82 countries. Denmark ranks the first among these countries.

The report was released at the 50th annual general meeting of WEF. WEF says that there are few economies who have the right conditions to foster social mobility.
WEF have measured countries by 5 key dimensions , Health, Education, Technology, work, Protections and institutions.
The other rankings of India stated by WEF is , India is 41st in lifelong learning and 53rd in working conditions. These ranks are also among the 82 countries .
The report also shows the area of improvement and the areas which  are, social protection and fair wage distribution. Even though India provides such good education and India having many skilled labourors it faces problems and need to improve in these areas.  This report is mainly about the inequalities happening in the society , a growing sense of unfairness , loss of identity and dignity etc. The government should take serious effort in  building a economy where they ensure fairness and equal opportunities to everyone. Creating societies where everyone has the same opportunity to fulfill their potential in life without looking at their socioeconomic background would rather bring social benefits  in the form of reduced inequalities and healthier lives, and this will also boost economic growth .
From the BRICS grouping Russia bags the first palce and then followed by China.  In this ranking the top five are Denmark being the first followed by Norway, Finland , Sweden, Iceland  . Then comes Netherlands , Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and Luxemborg being the tenth.  WEF also stated that Increased social mobility can be a  key driver of income inequality and by providing 5% can boost economies until 2030.
