AMAZON AND FLIP KART COLLABORATION TO HELP SMEs
American rivals Walmart and Amazon are finally
working together for dealing with the small traders and corner stores in India.
On Monday Amazon and Walmart owned Flip kart had organised two separate events
on the aim of helping the small and medium enterprise in technology and
growth of the business.
This led
to a series of problems and protest from Confederation of All India Traders
and Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh against the e-commerce companies claiming
that they had hit the business of offline traders and physical retailers.
According to the
president and CEO of Walmart, Judith Mckenna, ‘Walmart Vriddhi Supplier
Development Program’, will be launched to provide business development training
to 5000 small scale enterprises over the next 5 years and 25 institutes
will be set upped across the country to train micro, small and medium
enterprises. This plan is to source more from the small business. On September,
during the Walmart foundation, they had invested $ 25 million to the improvement
of farmers livelihoods over 5 years and the Walmart foundation had contributed
over $10 million in it and this was expected to impact on more than 81000
farmers including more than 29000 women farmers.
They had also committed to Walmart India by sourcing 25
percent of all fresh products without the presence of the middle men, that from
farmers to their Cash and Carry stores. They are also trying to combat
the allegations of pushing the foreign products in the Indian market by
reaffirming its commitments products that are manufactured in India.
In association with the Confederation of Indian Industry
(CII), Amazon India had also announced a partnership to work with MSMEs an SMEs
in the country. The company contains over 550000 sellers that is the small
businesses, on the Amazon Small Business Day on December 2018, they had
witnessed a sale spike of 1.4 times, close to 2000 sellers seen a spike of more
than 4 times and over 4100 saw a spike of over 2 times over the average
business day during.
In this collaboration of Confederation of Indian Industry and Amazon are
planning to include various activities that include awareness workshop, road
shows and e-commerce training.
